SIR — I have heard, with sadness, that some people in Luweero celebrated after receiving news that former President Apollo Milton Obote was dead.
I understand their feelings considering what they went through during the 1981-86 bush war, which was not started by Obote. This tells us that we do not need to rub salt into their wounds by driving Obote’s cortege through Luweero to Apac for burial.
I propose the cortege be driven through Jinja, Iganga, Mbale, Soroti and Lira. This will give the millions of Obote’s admirers a chance to pay their last respects to him while making the Luweero people happy at the same time.
