Bishop calls for growth in Kotido

Publication date: Friday, 12th May, 2006

THE Catholic Bishop of Kotido diocese has urged development organisations to develop Kotido, writes Mathias Mazinga.

The Rt. Rev. Denis Kiwanuka Lotee attributed the region’s slow economic growth to exaggerated talk about insecurity, which scared away investors.

Kiwanuka noted that some local politicians had not visited Kotido for decades. He was speaking to development practitioners from Caritas Uganda/Norway, at his residence in Kotido last week.

Caritas is a relief and development arm of the Roman Catholic Church. Kiwanuka urged developers and politicians to empower the residents.
