OVER 4,000 former rebels from various groups are set to receive resettlement packages from the Amnesty Commission.

The former rebels had signed the amnesty certificates but had not received resettlement assistance.

The beneficiaries who include those from the Lord’s Resistance Army and the Allied Democratic Force (ADF), are part of the 23,000 ex-combatants who have embraced amnesty since the Commission was established in 2000.

“Issuing of packages started on Monday and will continue for about a week,” said Moses Draku, the commission’s public relations officer. By Thursday, close to 60 people had collected their resettlement packages.
