THE LRA peace delegation has been put to task to explain the whereabouts of children they abducted from Teso in 2003.

The Obalanga LC 3 chairman, John Patrick Erau, told the LRA team during the MOnday visit: “We are happy you have come to Obalanga today and you have seen the mass graves of over 300 people who died in 2003 when the LRA invaded Teso. Where are the children you abducted? You have not brought back any of them as a sign that you are committed to peace,” Erau said.

“Teso people are tired of staying in camps and are still worried about the LRA. They will only be relieved the day the rebels come out of the bush,” Erau added.

The crowd, when asked if they would forgive Kony and his rebels, lifted their hands as one and said the rebels should be forgiven.

The LRA delegation led by Martin Ojul, included Dr. James Obita, Peter Ongom, Santa Okot and three LRA commanders. They were received by Amuria district authorities at Amuogo on the border of Amuria and Lira districts.

Ojul told the people that they should not press demands for children and compensation at this time as it would derail the peace process. He said he was touched by what he saw in Teso and apologised to the people in the region on behalf of the LRA.
