PRESIDENT Museveni yesterday met Busoga and Buruuli royal chiefs at State House Nakasero.
“The consultation meeting that will be continuous, is an effort to work towards reconciliation of cultural affairs in Busoga kingdom,†the State House said a statement last evening.
On October 31, seven out of 11 royal chiefs of Busoga chose 35-year-old Prince Edward Columbus Wambuzi Muloki of Bulamogi by consensus as Busoga’s new Kyabazinga.
Muloki’s ascendancy came after the death of his father, Henry Wako Muloki, on September 1, 2008.
The proclamation of Muloki as the new Kyabazinga came amid controversy. While some Basoga are comfortable with him, a section think that the throne should rotate among the chiefdoms.
The election was also conducted in disregard to a Constitutional Court order stopping the election.
Cranimer Sajjabbi Imaka, 73, and Abubakar Kakaire, filed a petition on October 27, demanding that all the 11 royal clans be allowed to contest.
