I met my wife at university. We were in the same year, doing the same course. We attended the same lectures, read and did our assignments together.

As Born-again Christians, we agreed to abstain from sex till marriage. Of course, I felt the pressure to have sex with her, but because I loved her, I respected her decision. We waited for two years after completing the course then got married.

Then the wedding day came. We both felt proud of the fact that we had remained chaste. When the guests left and we were finally alone, she said, to my greatest disappointment that she was tired.

This annoyed me, but I respected her decision because I loved her.
The following day, Anne suggested again that we first read the bible and pray, before we could have sex.

From there, she proceeded to say that God had asked us to fast for 40 days in which we had to stay away from sex. I told her that was too much for me. I felt like taking her by force but the Lord gave me the strength to persevere.

We left our honeymoon destination still pure. Later, I talked to our pastors, who met us and tried to explain to Anne her marriage duties but she was firm in her decision.

She barred me from telling her parents because according to her, that would mean my love for her was only for sex. She promised to help me fast.

I did it, because I loved her. We are still happily married and she does not play those tricks any more.
