SINGER Annette Mutyaba has not been overtly active over the past few years, raising speculations among her fans about whether she abandoned her career. She nonetheless, has made a come-back with a new album, which arguably outshines her earlier projects.
In her new songs, she makes a surprise deviation from her usual slow, inspirational gospel style to the energetic dance-hall style, which is characteristic of the jubilant praise and worship genre.
Sister Beautiful is probably the hottest song on the album. It fuses the rhythmic traditional vibe of the Basoga with a mid-tempo western pulse, resulting into an infectious reggae movement. The song gives beautiful tips for a happy and successful marriage.
Mutyaba features her admirer, Vicky, in the Runyankore song Ensi eji which juxtaposes the unconditional heavenly love and the selfish love of this world.
Other songs include Bwennali Nga Nkooye, A Child Is Born, Victory Mwebaze Mukama, Tewali Alinga Ggwe, Kammuyimbire and Victory Is Yours.
The album, Mwebaze Mukama will be launched at the National Theatre on Sunday and shows will start at 3:00pm and 6:00pm.
Mutyaba will feature artistes like Judith Babirye, Ken Miziki, God’s Image, Mushenge, Enock Kislev, Jackie Ssennyonjo, Isaac Kahura and the Passionate Ambassadors from Kigali. Entry fee is sh10,000 and sh20,000 (VIP).
