Jose Chameleone has a lot in store for his fans

LAST year, singer Jose Chameleone opened the year with a spectacular concert dubbed Katupakase Heavy Weight. This time round, he is opening the year with a grand concert dubbed Bayuda.

The concert is named after his latest title-track Bayuda, which has taken up airwaves like wild bush fire! It will be held on January 30 and 31, 2009 at Kati Kati and Gaba Beach respectively.

Chameleone says at the concert, he will sing all his songs from Mama Mia to the current one.

On the other hand, Chameleone who has been in the wheel chair for the last three months after he sustained broken ankles in a freak hotel fall out accident, will be thanking God for making him stand on his two feet again!

Chameleone says fans are tired of album launches, whereby the organisers turn it into an auctioning function. “What fans want is live performance of our songs; every beginning of the year, I give my fans a gift in form of a concert where I sing all my songs live,” Chameleone says.

Bayuda was composed shortly before he got the accident; but it has become so hot and popular mainly because of its strong message. The singer lashes at the discrete ways of hypocrites.

His trade mark hoarse voice delivers the message perfectly with ragga beats. The album includes Samwa Samwa, a track that features Iryn Namubiru; Nasema Nao which features AY from Tanzania and Telina Nyiniyo which features Chagga.

Chameleone’s musical style is a combination of Ugandan folk music, central African rumba, zouk and ragga. His first album was released in Kenya in 1999.

He has since released several albums including “Bageya” in 2000, “Mama Mia” in 2001, Njo Karibu in 2002, The Golden Voice in 2003, Mambo Bado, in 2004 and Kipepeo in 2005, Befuula in 2006; Sivyo Ndivyo 2007 and Katupakase in 2008. Today, Chameleone has Bayuda!

Chameleone is also known for his stimulating live performances, and is revered as one of East Africa’s most versatile, creative and crowd-pleasing artists.
