MASAKA-THERE was confusion at Hajji Abdu Kiyimba’s home in Lubanda Kisekka sub-county, when his wives abandoned a party after he introduced his third wife.

Kiyimba had organised a farewell party for his two wives, who are travelling to Mecca mid November. When Kiyimba stood up to address the gathering, he introduced Haliima Nakimuli as the elder wife of twelve years. He then introduced Hafswa Kiyimba, the second wife, who was seated next to Halima.

He, however, asked both wives to look behind them to see the third wife. “She is Qudra Kiyimba and has a one-year-old baby,” Kiyimba said.

The women, who had not known about their co-wife, stood up, one by one and left the function before Kiyimba could finish his speech, in which he promised to get a fourth wife.
