Desree Barlow bites back
Saturday, 25th February, 2006

Last week we wrote about Desree Barlow (left) quitting Broadcast Forum, which she founded and in particular, the sh1m, which the foundation was supposed to have paid to the Straight Talk Foundation.
She has since got back to us and this is an edited version of what she had to say: Reference is made to the award to Straight talk Foundation, which was picked up by Sanyu Nkizi Kagwa (right), whom we found out had left the Straight Talk foundation.
The award was supposed to be attached with sh1m. Last November, I wrote to Straight Talk foundation requesting for clarification on the allegations that Sanyu had left their organisation before the nomination date in October 2005, which they confirmed and I promised to follow up the matter with them in a meeting with Sanyu.
Sanyu kept calling demanding the sh1m saying she would forfeit the award to Straight Talk Foundation at the winners bash. On my return from a trip, one of our executive members, Lynn Musitwa, disappeared the following day, leaving suicidal notes. Lynn was also a signatory to our accounts. I promised in my communication that the next executive committee will handle all outstanding business with the cooperation of the outgoing chairperson.
