Kibuye, Faith Trust win music festivals

Kibuye Primary School in Kampala and Faith Trust primary school in Wakiso district have won the 2006 National Primary Schools’ Music, Dance and Drama (NPSMDD) festivals.
Thirty-nine primary schools participated in the annual event at the National Theatre in Kampala. Both schools received a trophy and a shield after scoring 707 points each. They will share the items for six months each.
The five-day festivals ended on Sunday, August 27. This is the first time to have two schools in first position in the festivals.
Faith Trust, the best in sight singing, won the AMREF 2006 NPSMDD award, and an electronic keyboard. Victoria Junior in Namutamba came third with 688 points and got a trophy. Mary and Paul in Ntungamo which came forth and won a monitor and a processor. Buckley High in Iganga came sixth, while Nabumali in Mbale, came seventh. Dr. Rose Nassali, the director of Education Standards Agency, who represented the Education minister Geraldine Bitamazire said such festivals help pupils to interact and educate the masses on HIV/AIDS.
AMREF sponsored the festival with sh20m. Others sponsors were Lake Victoria fisheries management project, Fountain Publishers and Ashek management.
