I am overweight. Someone advised me to skip so that I can lose weight quickly but when I skip, my knees hurt. What do you advise?
YOU are doing the right thing by listening to your body. Skipping is a great exercise, but it may not be for everyone. But more importantly, have you had a check-up for your knees?
Please consult your doctor or other qualified healthcare provider before beginning an exercise and nutrition programme.
Also remember that as the body ages, bone density tends to decrease. However, this can be reversed by incorporating strength training in your workout programme.
A healthy weight loss goal is to lose 0.45kg to 0.91kg a week. Therefore, when it comes to choosing an effective weight loss programme, slow and steady always wins the race.
Exercising should be part of your lifestyle and not simply a quick-fix. Are you ready to make it a lifestyle? Ask yourself that.
For knee problems, walking on a treadmill, swimming, indoor cycling and the elliptical machine are great choices as they are low impact. Do, however, continue listening to your body.
