  • Dear Doctor,
Someone told me that when a woman is on ARVs, contraceptives do not work because ARVs are stronger than contraceptives. Is it true?

    Dear Anonymous,
THERE are questions being raised about the effects on ARVS. This has led to an ongoing research about the effects of ARVS on family planning.

There are particular ARVS that affect the metabolism of the hormones in the liver. What I would advise a person living with HIV/AIDS is to visit a gynaecologist for guidance.
