    Dear Doctor,
My wife has been breastfeeding for about nine months, but she is negligent about her breasts. Can her breasts regain their firmness again? If so, how?
    Fred

    Dear Fred,
I commend you for seeking advice on your wife’s behalf. It is possible that your wife is not negligent. She might not be aware that her breasts bother you or that she can do something to minimise the sagging.

You need to discuss it with her in a loving way, after all communication can make or break a relationship. It is good that your wife has been breastfeeding your child for nine months and this serves to prove her commitment to raising healthy children.

Breastfeeding is not the only factor responsible for sagging breasts. The process is natural and like all other body tissues, breast tissue looses its elasticity over time.

Most women gradually lose firmness, especially those with large burst. Multiple pregnancies and genetic factors can also influence breast sagging.

The process can be minimised by wearing supportive bras during pregnancy, breastfeeding and doing breast firmness exercises.

You can get instructions from a body trainer or physiotherapist. Most importantly, you need to accept and love her the way she is at all times.
