MR. Uganda Ivan Byekwaso won the middle weight category at the Fame Great Lakes Championship body building contest in Nairobi over the weekend.

However, Byekwaso was placed third overall in the overall rankings winning a bronze medal.

Kenya’s Meshack Ochieng settled for a silver and another local lifter Paul Mwangale grabbed a gold.

The best three in each of the six weight categories qualified for the ‘Fame African Championships that will take place in Uganda next year.

Byekwaso had finished second at the East African version of the same championships last year and was also runners up at the 2010 FAME UK Championships in May.

He travelled to Nairobi in an eight-man team that also had Douglas Ssebugwawo.
