MOSES Kipsiro will take the narrow miss out on a third consecutive Sports Personality of the Year accolade as an inspiration to even perform better this season, Norman Katende writes.
Kipsiro was runner up to rugby club MTN Heathens in the uganda telecom/USPA Sports Personality for the 2009 gala that took place Saturday evening at Hotel Africana. Boxer Jackson Asiku and footballer Brian Umony were in third and fourth places respectively.
And just moments after Kipsiro, the 2007 and 2008 winner was crowned 2009 runner up, he said that the focus is for him to even perform better.
“The competition is increasing and I will also perform better. I am looking at improving on my performance on the international scene to be able to win a third title,†said the runner, who was visibly hurt for missing out on a hat trick.
Only another athlete, Dorcus Inzikuru, has won the title three times.
Kipsiro is eyeing to improve his performance at the World Cross Country championships, Africa Senior Championships and the Commonwealth Games, the top three international events on card for him.
“There is always a time to improve and I will make sure I even try harder this season.†he added.
