UGANDA volleyball Federation (UVF) will inaugurate Mass Volleyball at a gala set for Hana Mixed SS tomorrow.
The new version of the game is meant to popularise the event around the country, a UVF official Edgar Karungi said.
Mass volleyball, a simplified version of the game that has more fun and targets numbers.
“We hope this new strategy will help spread the game,†Karungi remarked.
The Mass volleyball campaign comes ahead of regular volleyball season starting next weekend.
Unlike regular volleyball, today’s tournament will have teams of two players each.
Each team comprises seven players as opposed to the regular version that has five.
Mass volleyball is played on smaller courts with seven players per team and three substitutes.
Only O-level students will take part in the event at Hana school.
The game has already taken root in other parts of the world.
Karungi explained that the new version is also geared at injecting fresh steam in physical education programme in Ugandan schools.
Beach volleyball is the other version of the game that has already gained popularity in the country.
This year’s activities started at the Entebbe Lido Beach over the weekend.
