FITNESS and nutrition expert Robert Ssebugwawo has advised Uganda’s middle class to either exercise or lead miserable lives.
“Exercise or die,†Ssebugwawo boldly told shocked Bank of Uganda staff at a fitness and wellness presentation at the central bank’s headquarters on Thursday.
“You have to eat proper foods, exercise and also have regular medical check-ups. You should remember that health is a number one resource so it should be protected.â€
He noted that World Health Organisation statistics showed that 70% of Uganda’s intellectual segment has chronic diseases like hypertension, diabetes and cancer.
Ssebugwawo observed that the crisis had a lot to do with indiscriminate adoption of western habits.
“The elite no longer want to walk or jog simply because almost all of them drive or have mobile phones.â€
He challenged Ugandans to emulate US President Barrak Obama. “If with all the pressures he has, he can follow a dietician and also work out for at least 45 minutes a day, who are you?â€
For starters, Ssebugwawo advised the bankers to consider exercises like walking, digging, riding bicycles, dancing or swimming. He later led the bankers through some drills.
He owns Bob Enterprises that offers fitness, youth mentoring, and intellectual inspiration products.
