PREMIER’S victory over the Warriors in the Luswata knockout tournament is bound to send shivers across the local cricket landscape. The event opens the season but the winning margin against newly-formed Warriors will no doubt have a message to the already established sides.
Overplaying the result would be unwise even if winning by 344 runs is worth a certain measure of respect, even if it comes against such a team like the Warriors.
Still, totally dismissing it as one-off would be equally dangerous for Premier’s other opposition. The fact is Premier are too strong. They have nine national team players within their ranks, including the inimitable Roger Mukasa and his explosive opening partner at national level Arthur Kyobe.
Lawrence Ssematimba, who destroyed the Warriors. Mukasa’s elder brother scored 151 off 114 while Kyobe hit 115 off 111 as Premier raced to 390/9 in 50 overs.
