ALL 17 FIFA referees are set for a one-week development refresher course at Namboole starting March 27. These will be joined by 13 FUFA referees to be picked by the local soccer body.
The course will be conducted by FIFA officials led by referees’ development officer Carlos Enriques. The official conducted a similar course at Lugogo last year.
Enriques then said that the world soccer governing body was grooming Ugandan referees for the 2014 soccer World Cup.
While addressing the press at Mengo yesterday FUFA official Haruna Kyobe said that the federation had extended the invitation to 13 local referees.
The local referees to be invited for the course will be screened according to their grades and recent performances in the Uganda Super League.
“FUFA is going to screen 13 referees among the local ones to attend the course because not every one of the local referees can be invited,†Kyobe said.
