DESPITE just six matches remaining to end the Nile Special Premier Rugby League, former champions uganda telecom Kobs have not given up hope for the title.
Former Kobs’ coach Arthur Mugweri said that his club can’t be written off before playing Heathens and Pirates in the second round.
“We lost two games in the first round but I believe we have the ability to finish with bonus wins in the remaining games,†Mugweri stated.
Kobs (25pts) trailing behind Pirates (30pts) and defending champions Heathens (35pts) lost 7-3 to Entebbe Mongers and 30-3 to Heathens that is yet to lose a game.
Mugweri, who led Kobs to five titles in 2007, attributed the poor form to lack of confidence in the youth dominated team.
To claim the title, Kobs must win all their six matches with a bonus point and Heathens lose three of their fixtures.
Meanwhile in the university league today, Nkumba hosts table leaders UCU Mukono while Makerere travel to Nkozi.
Elsewhere, Busoga University hosts Kyambogo while Mubs is at home against Kampala international University.
