DREAMS of ever owning a good house seem to evaporate with time. This was confirmed by 40-year old Geoffrey Matege who could not believe that he was the winner of the second MTN Goal of Goals house even after receiving the keys from MTN chief marketing officer Isaac Nsereko yesterday.

Despite having travelled all the way from Nakibungulya village in Kamuli district to Kampala to receive his apartment, Matege could still not believe that it really belonged to him from yesterday.

“Muna bangemisa ebisumuluzo aye mhh! (They have given me the keys but I don’t know),” he told one of his friends who kept calling him for updates from back home.

Matege was the second winner after Amon Turyasingura in the promotion which will have 12 MTN subscribers win an apartment each in the World Cup Village in Namungoona. The promotion is a build up to the June soccer World Cup in South Africa.

Matege currently occupies a small house, where he shares one room with his wife, while his eight children share the other.

“We might watch the World Cup from the house, and after rent it out to some people,” he added.

On the part of MTN, Nsereko said that what the telecommunication company wanted was to leave a legacy.

“And over 20 years after the event, Matege will still have the legacy of the house which he got because of the World Cup.”
