UGANDA will for the first time in more than six years not take part in the IAAF World Indoor championships because all athletes are unfit. The event is due March 12-14 in Doha, Qatar.

According to the federation secretary Beatrice Ayikoru, former world junior bronze medallist Abraham Chepkirwok had been picked as nation’s sole representative but pulled out.

Chepkirwok, who finished seventh in the Aviva Indoor Grand Prix a fortnight ago, said that he was not prepared.
“He had gone to test his fitness but he was still limping,” said Ayikoru.

Elsewhere, Fame’s Agnes Aneno finished third in the 200m event of the Kisumu track and field meet Saturday.

The race was won by Kenyan Grace Kidake, as Kenya prepares to host the African Championships later this year.
