Super Cup final
Sunday,
Mazembe v Malien
THE Uganda Cranes will know their opponents for the 2012 Orange Africa Nations Cup qualifiers today. Continental soccer governing body CAF will make the draws in DR Congo town Lubumbashi ahead of the Super Cup final between Mazembe and Malien tomorrow.
The Cranes, who last qualified for the competition 30 years ago, have started training for the Africa Na¬tions Championship.
The qualifiers start in September. Co-hosts Gabon and Equatorial Guinea will qualify automatically.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) has rejected Togo’s appeal for a provi¬sional reversal of their ban from the next two Africa Cup of Nations.
Its decision means Togo will not be in the draw. However, Cas has said if it eventually finds in Togo’s favour, the draw should be restaged at a later date.
Togo were banned by the Confederation of African Football (Caf) after pulling out of the recent CAN in Angola. They withdrew after a gun attack on their party killed two people and injured several others, on the insistence of the Togolese government.
