FLY-HALF Steven Ogwete has vowed to reclaim his position on the national rugby team the Rugby Cranes. Ogwete, 27, is only two games into his comeback from a one-year ban after getting involved in an assault on referee during the 2008 Hima 10’s rugby tournament at Kyadondo Club.

“It’s about me playing well to get back in the Cranes and I’m sure I will make it to the squad,” said the Kobs player.

Asked if he had considered a move to retire from international rugby after seeing his club face a dark 2009 season, he said, “I love my country and just want to play the best rugby I can and maintain myself on the national squad.”

The rugby Cranes will next month embark on early preparations ahead of the Elgon Cup and the inaugural Victoria tri- Nations Cup that includes Namibia, Uganda and Kenya due to take place in July.
