DAN Walusimbi and Godfrey Walusimbi will have to go for a late fitness test if they are to feature for SC Villa as they start their second round campaign in the Uganda Super League. The Jogoos are pitted against Arua Central at Namboole today.
The two are nursing injuries and after training yesterday, coach Sula Kato still doubted their fitness for today’s match saying that they are recovering slower than he expected.
“Dan and Godfrey are fifty-fifty,†Kato said yesterday.
Villa officials met yesterday to discuss, among others, the players’ attitude, reports relating to the departure of defender Simeon Masaba and also draw a strategic plan for the second half of the season.
The meeting resolved that they would not let go of Masaba and promised to improve the welfare the entire team. Kato is optimistic the resolutions are a timely to morale booster at Villa Park.
“I'm not losing any players and I don’t intend to make changes on my team. We had a meeting and the morale is high.
We will not stop from going for the points,†Kato promised after the meeting.
In the other match of the day, Nalubaale, who finished the first round 10th with 20 points, host relegation candidates Kinyara at Nakivubo.
Meanwhile Benson Ociti notched a brace and Ronald Ssesanga added another as Police FC overturned a 1-0 first half deficit to beat visiting Masaka LC 3-1 at Namboole yesterday.
The Cops are now level with KCC (31 points) and a place above SC Villa.
Ronald Lukungu had given Masaka the lead on eight minutes with a penalty after Andrew Waiswa brought down Yusuf Kinene in the box.
