Assembly to endorse Mulindwa as FUFA boss

BY JAMES BAKAMA

Today, 8am
FUFA elective assembly
Heritage Courts Hotel, Arua

ARUA is set to host one its biggest sports events ever. West Nile region’s largest town will starting at 8am today host a general assembly to decide who will run Uganda’s most popular sport for the next four years.

Zone Four FUFA chairman Mike Letti said yesterday residents were eager to have the assembly.

“We were getting agitated by the court cases, but now that the assembly is cleared, we are all set,” noted Letti.

Uncertainty resulting from a court order application by Kabale delegate Godfrey Kwizera to stop the meeting had the district football association changing from the original White Horse venue.

FUFA CEO Edgar Watson said business starts at 8am with registration. Next will be a president’s communication before returning officer Patrick Okanya takes charge.

Lawrence Mulindwa, the only candidate who turned up for presidential nominations, will most likely be endorsed by the assembly for another four year term.

Kwizera who had earlier eyed the same post said on Thursday that he would not attend the assembly. Kwizera is challenging the federation’s electoral process in court.

Delegates started arriving yesterday.
