MTN Heathens added another title to their impressive collection by winning the Uganda Rugby Union Super Cup on Saturday.

Heathens, led by Brian Tabaruka, outwitted Barbarians side 15-8 to win.

Heathens who had previously won the league, Uganda Cup, Hima 10’s and the Broadband Sevens circuit titles claimed a 7-0 early lead with a try by Brian Kikawa and a conversion by Benon Kiiza in the first 15 minutes.

Anthony Kinene later managed a penalty for Barbarians to end the first half 7-3.

Moses Soita scored a try for Barbarians, but Heathens replied with a penalty through Kiiza as the winners went 10-8 up in the thrilling encounter.

With 10 minutes to the end, Robert Seguya scored a try to secure Heathens victory.

“We won but it was a tough tie. This event should be maintained on the rugby body’s calendar,” Seguya said.

Thunderbirds beat Black Panthers to take the ladies crown.
