FORMER world bronze medallist Moses Kipsiro is set to defend his 10km title in the MTN Kampala marathon due November 22. The start and finish of the sixth edition will be at Kololo Airstrip.

Norman Katende writes that Kipsiro, who put up a one-man show to win last year’s race with ease, confirmed entry with the national athletics body.

Former world 3000m steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru has also confirmed her participation in the 10km race which she won three years back.
Kipsiro, a silver medallist at this year’s world cross country in Amman, Jordan, will be up against a number of elite runners among them world junior 3000m steeplechase runner-up Benjamin Kiplagat and world mountain running champion Geoffrey Kusuro.

“The 10km is expected to be tough though he has an upper hand. There are new faces that want to kick start their professional dreams,” said Timothy Munguti, administrative secretary of the national athletics body - UAF.

Abraham Kiplimo, Daniel Korir, Ben Siwa, Dickson Huru and Alex Cherop are among other top runners that are expected to give Kipsiro a run for his money as he bids to win a third consecutive title.
