DUNCAN Mugabe will once again play Italian seed three Claudio Grassi in the second round of the Senegal F2 Futures tennis tournament in Dakar today, after overcoming American Janicije Karic in straight sets (6-2 6-0) in the first round on Monday.

Mugabe, who lost to the Italian last week will be seeking to avenge that defeat.

The Ugandan is coming off his debut win at the Senegal F1 Futures, where he teamed up with Nigerian Clifford Enosoregbe to claim the men’s doubles. It was the second final that he was appearing in having done so earlier in Kenya.

Last year Mugabe played in the Gabon F1 Futures and Gabon F2 Futures losing in the second round and reaching the semifinals respectively.

The Ugandan top tennis player has so far bagged 17 points on the ATP men’s ranking that puts him at 669 in the world.
He will later this month travel to the US to attend a high level performance camp in Florida.
