Kiprop won gold in Melbourne

Kiprop won gold in Melbourne

Boniface Kiprop
Age – 22

Achievements: Commonwealth 10,000m
Champion; set new national 5000m records;
USPA sports personality of the months of March and July.

BONIFACE Kiprop was a shooting star in 2006. He set three national 5000m records on the highly competitive international circuit. But it was mainly for his Commonwealth Games gold medal that he got nominated for the uganda telecom/USPA sports personality of the year award.

Images of this slightly built runner striding to the tape ahead of the mighty Kenyans in Melbourne are still fresh on many Ugandans’ minds.

It was for that feat that the sports journalists voted him top sportsman for March. He again won the same accolade in July, further qualifying the fact that he deserved to be on the top performers’ list.

Kiprop, was a winner in 2003. Other nominees are David Obua,Ronald Ssebuguzi, Moses Kipsiro and Dorcus Inzikuru.
