ARTHUR Blick won the United Assurance Motorcross championship on Sunday but his three-year-old son Alestair Blick stole the show.

Alestair shocked spectators at the redesigned Uganda Motorcross Club track in Entebbe when he ably did three laps on a 50cc motorcycle.

“The kid is amazing. He shocked us when he upgraded from a tri-cycle three weeks ago. The earliest a normal child starts riding is five years. He’s a brave man. With proper guidance and support, he will be a champion one day,” Blick commented.

In the open category, Blick was quickest in two of three heats to beat his Israeli arch-rival Asaf Natan for the first time in 13 months.

National champion Natan, who returned from an injury layoff, clearly trailed Blick in the first and third heats. But he took the second after Blick’s motorcycle stalled.

“I had the advantage because he has just recovered from an injury.

It would have been a close race if he was at his best. I will train hard because I expect him to put up a better show next time,” Blick remarked.

Jack Evans, Maxim van Pee and Nathalie van Pee emerged top in the 125cc, 85cc and 65cc categories respectively. Fatula Kiggundu beat master Alestair in the 50cc event.

United Assurance company, Motorola and G4S sponsored the event jointly organised by Speedway and Uganda Motorcross Club.

Fans Geoffrey Mulondo, Charles Katumwa and Gilbert Mubiru won motorola phones in a raffle.
