New season
ATHLETICS-Local athletes will start rebuilding for the new season with the fourth Kampala 10km road run today. The run, set to attract some of the local stars, will start and end at Lugogo indoor stadium. “We had to shift the venue from Garden City for security reasons,” said John Bosco Bananuka, UAF assistant secretary.

Boroboro kit
SOCCER-Lira-based NGO, Development Training and Research Centre (DTRC) has donated a set of uniforms worth sh0.35m to Boroboro Holly Hill FC. DTRC executive director, James Okucu handed over the package and pledged more assistance and support to the club.

Fitness alert
SOCCER-FUFA has instituted a sports medical committee of four doctors and a nutritionist to take care of fitness in national soccer teams. The committee, Dr. Ronald Kisolo, also has Deo Owoneha as vice, secretary Opika Opoka and JBK Ntege. FIFA referee Mohammed Sseggonga is nutritionist.

No clemency
SOCCER-FUFA has ignored apologies from Cranes duo of Abubaker Tabula and Mike Serumaga who were seeking their six-month suspension lifted. But the federation has cleared Cranes skipper Ibrahim Sekagya for his failure to turn up for Nations Cup qualifier against Niger in September. A FUFA said that Serumaga and Tabula will serve the ban until February 26, 2007.
