A Confederation of African Football (CAF) envoy Shams Eldin is in Kampala to inspect facilities to be used for the body’s events this year.

Eldin, also secretary general of Sudan Football Federation, is to look at hotels, stadia and other facilities until tomorrow.

FUFA public relations officer Aldrine Nsubuga, revealed at the body’s weekly press conference in Mengo yesterday. “His mission is to establish whether the facilities meet CAF standards.”

Eldin’s mission covers six other countries in the east and southern Africa region including Eritrea and Zambia.

Previously, teams from west and north Africa rejected accommodation facilities lined up for them in Kampala.

Uganda will be represented in continental action, by league champions Police hosting Sudan’s El Hilal in the MTN Champions League on the weekend of February 17-19. URA is up against World Hope of Kenya in the Confederation Cup.

At the same time, FUFA’s plan to restore order to the game has been boosted with a course in management by world soccer body FIFA under the Flying Teaching Team project February 28 -March 4.

Meanwhile, Police striker Geoffrey Massa is due to complete his move to Egyptian side El Masry. He would be the second Ugandan at Masry after Jackson Mayanja, now KCC coach.

FUFA will meanwhile, announce the appointment of a Chief Executive Officer (CEO)and his support staff on Friday.
