Mwami to drop all absentees

By Ronnie Kintu
NATIONAL team manager Richard Mwami has threatened to drop players who do not take training sessions seriously ahead of the 2007 World Cup qualifiers set for Ireland in July.
The officer toughened on players who had not turned up for drills since October when a 25-man squad was summoned to start drills for the International Cricket Council (ICC) mini World Cup and the three-day Africa intercontinental championships.
“We have been patient enough with some players and can no longer continue. Those who have failed to report for national duty would have to stay back for ever,” Mwami lamented.
Leading spin-bowler Baig Akbar is reported to be in India still on holiday while steady batsman Nand Kishor is also missing. Nehal Bibodi, Bharat Godhadra and Hamza Saleh are also inconsistent in their appearance.
“We have abundant talent here with most of the players committed and willing to drill as a team. There shall be no mercy for absentees,” Mwami said.
