A leading global provider of business software, Systems Application Products (SAP), is expanding in East Africa to support the anti fraud fight in government and private businesses.
Sunil Geness, a corporate affairs official at the firm, said the software applications are used in human resource management and in the financial systems to track the flow of money as well as optimise human capital. SAP was one of the major partners at the just concluded Digital Africa Summit held at the Speke Resort Munyonyo in Kampala, recently.
Geness said the cutting -edge applications had been successfully used by many governments. “For instance, it helped Zambia run a leaner and more efficient government.â€
The human resource software, Geness explained, can provide back-up data for a country’s entire civil service. This software can monitor absentee staff, performance rates, bonus structures, ghost workers and leave applications, thus saving governments and organisations from fraud and under- performance.
“There is a whole continuity of managing people from the time they are recruited,†said Geness.“Our approach in Africa is to be a partner in development. Our role is to support governments to achieve their targets,†said Geness.
