HOUSING Finance Bank has opened up a branch in Kikuubo, Kampala’s busiest business centre. Keith Muhakanizi, the bank’s board chairman, said the move was part of a five-year strategic plan from 2009 to 2013.

Muhakanizi said the business plan aims at reaching the majority of Ugandans and those in the Diaspora. The plan includes opening 35 branches countrywide and introducing delivery channels like mobile phone banking and Internet banking.

He said the bank’s equity over the last five years had grown from sh10.1b in 2003 to sh88.7b in 2008, adding that the bank pays dividends of sh1.472b, to the Government.

The opening was officiated over by the new finance minister, Syda Bbumba, who called upon the Central Division to put a hold on the new trade licensing fee.
