EAST African Breweries has launched a new beer, President Lager, to commemorate Barack Obama’s election.

“President Lager is a special edition brand that has been introduced onto the market following its success in Kenya.

“It was made to commemorate and celebrate the recent election of the first African-American president of the US, Barack Obama,” Hazel Twesigye, the innovations manager, said at the launch on Friday in Nankulabye, a Kampala suburb.

She said unlike in Kenya, the new beer comes in a long-neck 500ml bottle, thus providing choice to clients.

She said the beer was targeting the 25 to 34 age group of young professionals.

“individuals who are respectable, responsible, in touch with their cultural heritage and celebrate life as a vital part of their lives,” she said.
