SOMEONE in Kibuli Modern Primary School at Kajjansi must have prayed solemnly in Ramadhan, the Muslim’s holy month of fasting. How else would Emirates Foundation have chosen a lowly school in Kajjansi, Entebbe for a donation of $10,000 (sh20m).
The donation went to a bursary scheme for disadvantaged girls, orphaned and vulnerable children run by the Nnabagereka Development Foundation (NDF) last Tuesday.
Emirates Foundation, the charity arm of Emirates Airlines NDF, is a charity founded by Her Royal Highness the Queen of Buganda Kingdom, Sylvia Nagginda.
Princess Abigail Nasuna Kajumba, who received the donation on behalf of NDF, thanked Emirates Foundation for the gesture of goodwill.
She said NDF has been running a similar successful scheme for five years for 50 girls, and is about to extend this project to support an another 50 children.
Huzairu Kimbugwe, the head teacher, said the school will soon expand the bursary to orphans and children in need.
