EDITORâ€â€I have on several occasions heard people, especially those in the opposition and diehard Baganda, blaming the army and Police for shooting and beating up ‘innocent people’. Such shootings are always a result of people pelting stones at the security forces which is criminal.
The most recent incident is when the PGB officers shot dead some rioters who were stoning the President’s advance team. Buganda’s information minister is quoted to have blamed the army. Does he know that soldiers have been dying and others have been severely injured while trying to control these so-called innocent people?
Someone should tell me whether it is fine for a civilian to fight a soldier who is doing his job and get away with it. If someone can be arrested for not giving way to the President’s convoy, why not those who stone the President’s team? The people involved in stoning the President’s team at Kasubi should be arrested and charged.
