EDITOR—On Monday, James Abola wrote a letter entitled “Prosecute Mama Finaâ€. He stated that my mission was to bribe the pupils to vote for my daughter as the headgirl! On the day my picture was taken with the pupils, I had been invited by the school as a guest of honour at the swearing-in of new pupils’ leaders, including my daughter.
The elections in the school had been conducted two weeks before and I was only informed that my daughter had been elected headgirl when the headmistress telephoned me and invited me to the school. I was too overwhelmed by the reception I received from the pupils and I almost shed tears.
As a parent, I felt emotional and offered a small token to let the teachers buy some refreshments for the pupils for the love they had shown me. I handed over the money to a teacher but I could not distribute it to every pupil. It is wrong for Abola to say that I bribed the pupils because it was not even stated in the news.
I have sponsored 15 orphans in this school whom I treat as my own children and six of them completed last year’s PLE and are now in different secondary schools. I have donated money to churches, mosques, women SACCOS, youth groups, artists, FM radio galas like CBS’s Enkuuka, Simba’s Engule where I donate cars, motor cycles and money but nobody has ever complained or thought that I bribe anyone.
I will continue donating and giving as so longs as I have because I have passion for those in need regardless of whether people like Abola misinterpret my mission. I personally own schools and I don’t support bribery and it is wrong for anyone to drag my name in the mud.
I am more interested in seeing my daughter and the rest of those I have sponsored passing highly rather than facilitating them to become leaders. Let anyone willing to investigate me interview the children and teachers whether I bribed anyone.
