EDITOR—Dr Olara Otunnu may have come with a lot of promises for Ugandans but he should know that he is not the “knight in shining armour” for us who have lived here in the good and bad times while he was away.

A lot has gone on in his absence that he needs time to familiarise himself with. Otunnu can be likened to a mother who leaves home and comes back years later to impose herself on children who have been brought up by another woman.

Telling us about how bad the NRM or President Museveni are will not give him any mileage because at least Museveni has stuck with us while Otunnu was enjoying better life elsewhere. Before he came he anticipated being harassed and so said many things to demonise the Government.

But he has been able to traverse the country and enjoy all the freedom he wants including expressing himself because somebody sacrificed for it. Instead of coming to dig up the past that might implicate him also he should bring us developmental ideas to make Uganda a better place for us all to live in.
