It is not wise to use only one vendor

EDITOR—I have been reading about the substandard work on the national optical fibre backbone network.

Granted, we got a loan from China and I think one of the conditions was to use a Chinese telecom vendor.

But there are other Chinese telecom vendors. That aside, it is not wise in telecom to use only one vendor.

Huawei needs competition and if we had two or three Chinese vendors on this project, I don’t think we would be having all these problems on the project. The Information Technology ministry should get serious.
