Let us face it, we don’t have enough drugs in hospitals

EDITOR—President Museveni should get one thing out of the queue before jumping on the next. Recently, he was talking about branding drugs and now he is talking of denying bail to those who steal drugs.

Did branding drugs not help? Is drug theft more serious than all the vices we have heard about CHOGM, the National Forestry Authority and the Universal Primary Education?

Over 1.2 million Ugandans are infected with HIV but only 400,000 are accessing anti-retroviral drugs. Why? Three hundred people die of malaria every day! Is it because drugs are stolen? No! Hospitals lack drugs.
