Mityana town council has embarked on the construction of a multi million garbage solid waste composite plant. The project, which is funded by the World Bank, will turn garbage from the town into manure, to be supplied to farmers in villages. The town clerk, Edward Lwanga, said they had acquired over sh1.2b for the project. Lwanga said the plant is being constructed at Namukozi, about two kilometres from the town. “Under this project, we have received two skip loader lorries, which will be collecting the garbage and carrying it to the plant. There will be another machine working on the garbage at the site, changing it into manure,” he said. He called upon the people to maintain cleanliness in the town.
