THE former Buikwe area MP, Anthony Kanyike, has withdrawn the appeal he filed in the Supreme Court against the new MP, Norman Muwulize, in which he was challenging his academic documents.

Kanyike told journalists on Monday that he had decided to withdraw the appeal to pave way for reconciliation among NRM party supporters in the district. Kanyike, who is the area NRM party chairman, said the party would have suffered big losses in the 2011 general elections if he had not withdrawn the appeal.

Kanyike dragged Muwulize to court after the 2006 parliamentary election on grounds that he had used false academic documents which did not correspond with his true names.
