THE Government is to donate 50 acres of land to the Ugandan Indian Association for the construction of a hospital that will perform heart surgeries, Vice-President Prof. Gilbert Bukenya said recently.

“The Government is allocating land to groups which want to develop the country. We shall donate 50 acres of land to the Uganda Indian Association,” Bukenya said in a speech read by agriculture minister Hope Mwesigye.

The association is a non-profit organisation which helps the needy.

Mwesigye made the diclosure during a thanksgiving ceremony held for 16 children who had successful heart operations in India.

The function was held at the association’s offices in Nakasero, Kampala.

She hailed the association that has so far sponsored about 20 heart patients.
