THE High Court has ordered Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) to release the Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) results of 270 pupils of Kibiito and Bubwika primary schools in Kabarole district and Makondo Primary School in Bundibugyo district.

Last month, UNEB nullified the results of 139 candidates, citing malpractices.
Passing the ruling on Friday in Fort Portal, Justice Owiny Dollo said UNEB acted unlawfully when it nullified the results.

“You unlawfully nullified the results. I am ordering you to release them with immediate affect so that pupils can join Senior One because they are already too late for school,” Dollo said.

Dollo added that the pupils were not given a chance to defend themselves.

He also ordered UNEB to pay sh500,000 to each pupil.

“The children have suffered mental torture and inconveniences,” he said.

Matthias Sekatawa, who was representing UNEB, told court that he would appeal against the ruling.
