Kabale resident district commissioner Lt. James Mwesigye (left), has said President Yoweri Museveni has never stopped former leader Dr. Milton Obote from returning.

“Those who have been peddling these lies are wrong. Obote is free to come home,” he said.

Mwesigye, who was speaking during a live programme on Voice of Kigezi on Wednesday, said the government should be hailed for its contribution in comparison to past regimes.

The moderators, Julius Barutsya and Rhona Nsiima, had earlier said Obote was one of Uganda’s heroes and he should not be stopped from returning.
