THE Government will continue mobilising food aid to feed an estimated 6,000 people displaced by floods. This initiative follows floods that hit four sub-counties in the district after torrential rains caused River Manafwa to overflow.

In an interview with the New Vision at Mt. Elgon Hotel in Mbale last week, Maj. Gen. Julius Oketta, the overseer of the crisis, said the Government would provide assistance to the affected groups until they begin to harvest their own food.

He added that farming tools and seeds would be provided in preparation for the planting season.
